In the past few weeks I’ve had a couple of guest posts published first on Onextrapixel and then on Six Revisions and damn it’s hard. I think I both love and hate writing in equal measure and here’s why:
Love
There are a few benefits to writing a guest article for sites like these. In some instances a site will pay you for the article, the extra money is always great but in truth the payment is nominal next to what I could earn freelance over the same time.

When this BBC article popped up again in my Twitter feed this morning I actually decided to take the time to read the article that I had earlier ignored assuming it would tred the same path may design blogs had already walked. Yet with the exception of a nice history lesson the article seemed both short and lacking depth.
The BBC
Since the redesign of the BBC News site there does seem to be a move towards quantity over quality in their news output, yet this article annoys me more than most. My day job involves me working with Photoshop or writing code, but for some reason I seem to feel a need to offer an opinion on any subject. So when asked if I’d have a go at writing about A/B testing I thought, ‘Sure, why not’.
But rather than repeat the article here, go and have a read at what is essentially an introduction to A/B testing. Then if the article peaks your interest have a go at playing with A/B testing yourself or read more into the subject so when a client comes asking you know exactly what to say.

After having written a guest post for the guys over at One Extra Pixel I was suprised to get a few more offers to guest write. At first it seemed a lot of work so declined some offers but when Jacob at Six Revisions asked I simply couldn’t say no.
So after some hard work writing (as it takes me some time to write) the post I wrote for Six Revision is now live and concerns the best practices for hints and validation in web forms. I hope you check it out and find it useful.
I have to say thanks to Jacob for the better title as after writing the post I was struggling on the title.
