Web Design = Art
Careful! This post is looking a little old and could be inaccurate in many, many ways
One definition of art states that it is the conscious production or arrangement of elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty.
In modern times art has been redefined, no longer is an artist a painter or sculptor. Instead an artist can produce such diverse works such as a urinal or a crack in the floor and possibly be paid millions for the piece by a collector.
As a web designer I create numerous individual pieces over a month, on a digital medium to be paid the usual salary for potentially millions to see the work.
However while traditional art survives forever, a web based design is usually disappears every couple of years.
So is web design art?
Yes. Although the numbers and mediums involved may be very different between the web and traditional art the work, effort and emotion is no different.
